This week's EXTREMELY late blogger Spotlight is Tash from New English Mum in America! Say hi to a fellow Tash and don't forget to visit her blog and send her plenty of lovin'! I should really apologise here as I promised Tasha's interview would be up months ago *shuffles feet sheepishly* but I guess...well....in short...I kinda forgot to keep up with my weekly Spotlights. BUT I am BACK and looking forward to meeting a bundle of new bloggers! So this is Tash! Enjoy!
Describe yourself in 5 words
Sarcastic, quirky, patient, curious, hungry.
Why did you begin blogging?
I am on the internet a lot and follow a ton of other blogs, I love to write so I figured it made sense to jump on the bandwagon! It also enables me to meet new people and to be sociable, which has been seriously lacking in my life these these days!!
What is your all time favorite food?
It has to be my Mums beef stew and dumplings (British style) NO ONE does it quite like she does. It is amazing and I miss it.
If had $1000 to spend on anything in the world, what would you spend it on?
A flight to England so that I could go to my best friends wedding in September
What was the last book you read?
Belle by Lesley Pearse. She is an English author and not all that well known in the States. She is my absolute favorite author of all time, I have read all of her books.
If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional. with whom would it be?
Willy Wonka. Seriously my idea of heaven.
If your life could have a theme song, what would it be and why?
Que Sara, Sara - People tell me that I am the most optimistic person they have ever met. I tend to always see the best in every situation. I go into things knowing that sometimes it's going to suck, but I always know that there will a light at the end of the tunnel and what ever will be, will be.
About Tash!
I am an almost 30 year old English gal who has lived in the US since 2008. I moved here to be with my Husband Chris and we have just recently welcomed our son Cole to the family. I love writing, cooking, reading, shoes, anything blue in color and if you bring me chocolate I'll be your best friend for life!

What is your all-time absolute favourite food? Hot wings!
If had $1000 to spend on anything in the world, what would you spend it on? I would buy a video camera with part of it then the rest I split and give to a family trying to raise money to adopt a Downs syndrome girl from China and the rest to a co-worker of mine whose son is sick with leukemia.
What was the last book you read? Hunger Games Series
If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional. with whom would it be? My grandma in the 1950's she said it was such a fun time to live!
If your life could have a theme song, what would it be and why? I gotta a Feeling-Black Eyed Peas (sp) I have a lot of good, good nights (and days!)
*I haven't included the official video for this song as parts of it aren't family friendly :o)

Quirky Bean 'Meet the Blogger' Spotlight! Kathy of 'Kangaroo Mama'
This week at the Quirky Bean, we meet Kathy of 'Kangaroo Mama'. Lovely to have you here Kathy!
Describe yourself in 5 words: Only 5 words huh?! But I'm wordy and long-winded! I guess the 1st word would be wordy! Wordy, Bubbly, Loving, Cuddly, Adventurous
Why did you begin blogging? I actually always wanted to start a blog so I could share about products, services and places that I love since I already do it with all my friends. But I guess I never had enough motivation to actually sit down and figure out a blog name and start blogging. It wasn't until I was going back to work after 3 1/2 short months of maternity leave that kicked things into high gear. I was feeling so sad that I was leaving my daughter behind and not being able to see her except for those short waking hours when I get home. So in order to fill the void while I was at work and help decrease my stress levels, I decided to start this blog so that I could share about my family but it also provided me a way to think about my family, look at pictures that I was posting...all while I was pumping milk! Some find this strange but it was and still is very therapeutic for me. Yes, I am still breastfeeding at 17 months!
I knew there were a lot of people out there that just needed someone to help them feel like they were not experiencing things alone and that's why I try to talk openly about my challenges and victories so that they know they are not alone on this journey, there are others that can relate in some capacity or another! Although they may not be exactly the same as what you are going through, it's comforting knowing that you're not alone and what you feel is completely normal! I think in the end, it was good for me to not have started my blog earlier because I wouldn't have had the same inspiration for the name of my blog and I probably wouldn't have had the same motivation to even start one if it weren't for me going back to work!
What is your all-time absolute favourite food? I realize I absolutely love Thai food because anything with coconut milk in it is my favorite!
If had $1000 to spend on anything in the world, what would you spend it on? Hmm, $1K to spend on anything?! I would love for a professional organizer to come into my home and help me find ways to be more efficient and organized, especially with my paper collection that's taking over the home! I have so many nooks and crannies that can't be used because I can't figure out how to make it work but I know there has to be a way so I'd love for the organizer to come in and implement all those changes so it can work for our life and maximize the space in our little condo! It seems no matter how much I donate or throw out, I still have so much stuff all over the house! That $1K would be money well spent if it could produce lasting results...of course, that's if I had the $1K!
What was the last book you read? I'm a slow reader and haven't enjoyed reading very much since it became required in school. BUT, with that said, the last book I read was The Shelter of God's Promises by Sheila Walsh, which I actually enjoyed.
If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional. with whom would it be? Does trading places with them mean I get all their talents for a week too?! If so, I think I might choose an amazing organizer or someone with really handy skills to fix and implement all my design, decorating, plumbing, painting and other needs around the house. Hmmm, maybe someone from Extreme Home Makeover since they're used to tight timelines (I only have a week) and a lot of things I want done! =P However, not sure if I want this person to be male or female since that would be awkward going into men's restrooms, peeing standing up, walking and dressing like a man for a week...plus my hubby would really miss me! Maybe a handy-woman organizer?! But I would hate for her to be good-lookin' 'cause then my hubby might not miss me so much if I came home as a good-lookin' handy-woman organizer! No just kidding, my hubby is amazing and he would totally miss me!
If your life could have a theme song, what would it be and why? If You Want Me To by Ginny Owens. This song was shared with my by a friend several years back but it wasn't until I went through a really tough year with a miscarriage, dual job losses with both my husband and I, and having Bell's Palsy (You can read about the Bell's Palsy here: http://kangaroomama.com/do-i-love-my-reflection/), that this song really struck a chord in my heart. Especially with the miscarriage, which was the day after my husband's birthday, I could not understand why everything was happening and if I had done something wrong. But this song reminded me that God loves me no matter the trials in my life and that I can still grow closer to him despite or because of these trials. This song also reminds me that I am not the same person today as I will be tomorrow because these trials haven't broken me but are changing and molding me into a new woman. Hopefully, one that's not only wiser and more mature but also one that can learn to enjoy life to the fullest even in the face of challenges! So since that point, this song has been one that I enjoy singing to and the lyrics mimic my feelings towards the trials that I face and also how I will handle them!
You can see a video of the song here and of course, I had to choose a music video sung by an Asian chick since I'm Asian! =P

Quirky Bean 'Meet the Blogger' Spotlight! Clarinda of 'A Jewel in the Making'
Welcome Clarinda!! Lovely to meet you!
"I am a wife of one husband. We were married in October of 2002. I am also a stay at home mom. My children are an 8 year old girl, an almost 7 year old boy, an almost 5 year old girl, a 3 year old boy, and a 23 month old girl as of 04/12. We are also missing 3 due to early miscarriages as of 04/04, 08/11, and 09/11. We live in the Pacific Northwest of the United States of America. I have live here since I was 9 years old. The rest of the family was born here. We live in a beautiful city next to another major city. We love exploring the area. I am a born again Christian even though I was a “Christian” all my life. I am nothing but a great sinner saved by God’s grace. After a long absent from church, we recently started attending a little church that we love so far. I homeschool my oldest two children. We use Old Fashioned Education with a little bit added in to round out their education.
I love reading, going to the beach, hanging out with my family, listening to music, and socializing (and learning) on Facebook and other social medias. My hope for my blog, 'A Jewel in the Making' is to bring Glory to God while blogging about the things I’m passionate about: my children, God and theological things, health and diet related topics, recipes, homeschooling, and even a few giveaways thrown in for good measure."
Describe yourself in 5 words - Loyal, caring, blessed, strong and loved.
Why did you begin blogging? - To share what I am passionate about and eventually help with my family financial situation.
What is your all-time absolute favourite food? - Being on a special diet, I'm limited on what I can eat so if I wasn't on the diet I would choose Steak with A1 Sauce with a side of Reese's peanut butter cups and Dr Pepper. For my diet food I would choose Cheesy ground turkey, yummy homemade goat milk yogurt with sliced peaches and Sparkling grape juice.
If you had $1000 to spend on anything in the world, what would you spend it on? - $250 to my sister for all the help she has provided over the years, $250 to people/charities I would want to help out, and $500 to become a consultant for a company so I can help out my families financial situation.
What was the last book you read? - The last book I finished was True Christian Motherhood by June Fuentes, but the last book I read was either Chosen by God or Family Driven Faith, those are just two of the many books I am reading lately.
If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional. with whom would it be? Esther from the Bible.
If your life could have a theme song, what would it be and why? Trusting in God. Alot has happened in the few years and God has taught me that I need to rely on him. He has given me strength to go through some trials and came out stronger because of Him

Quirky Bean 'Meet the Blogger' Spotlight! Valerie of 'Mommas Moolah'
This week we meet Valerie of Mommas Moolah....great to meet you Valerie!!
Describe yourself in 5 words - Quiet, loyal, supportive, intelligent, giving.
Why did you begin blogging? - I had started using coupons to help stretch our budget. We were tired of never having food or personal/household care items. I quickly got hooked on using coupons and kept posting on my facebook when I'd find good deals. Friends and family started bombarding me with questions and I found myself typing the same things over and over. My blog was born because my fingers were just too tired to keep typing the same thing multiple times. I was already doing all the work, so I figured why not just put it in one centralized location for them all.
What is your all-time absolute favourite food? - Wow, this is a hard one! There are several foods I adore totally, but all time favorite? Enchiladas!
If you had $1000 to spend on anything in the world, what would you spend it on? - Typical Mom answer, I'm sure, but I would definitely spend it on my 3 kids first. Things have been tough financially around here for several years and that means Christmas and Birthdays are skimpy. I'd make it up for it but going through their Amazon Wish Lists!
What was the last book you read? - I used to be an avid reader. My daughters got me into several different series but I haven't read in a while and they are complaining because I am way behind. I think the last one I read was "Fallen" by Lauren Kate.
If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional. with whom would it be? I've been sitting here trying to think of an answer for this one and so far I am blank! There are alot of people I admire, fictional characters included, but to trade places? Oh, ok, I got it! I would LOVE to trade places with one of the people who won that mega lottery a couple of weeks ago! It would be fun to know what that felt like!
If your life could have a theme song, what would it be and why? I'm a Survivor by Reba McEntire

Quirky Bean 'Meet the Blogger' Spotlight! Victoria of 'Mommy Made It'

"I am a mother and a wife. I have two beautiful daughters whom I get the great privilege to be home with during my days. I am a self-proclaimed craft-a-holic. I have tried everything and loved everything I've tried that helps me "create". I love to read, cook, sew, quilt, and I love sharing all of these passions with my daughters. I try to bake or cook with them at least once per week. I have been married for 10 years to the most incredible man a woman can find. We are perfect mates and he has been such a great supporter of all of my "hobbies". I have an extremely close relationship with my family and it is one of the dearest gifts in my life. I have been blogging for just a little over a year and have become much more active in my blogging efforts over the past few months. I am on the board for my local MOMS Club and I am involved in a leadership role in my MOPS group as well. I teach Sunday School class to our toddlers at my church and love bringing the Word to these young children."
Describe yourself in 5 words - Blessed, Intuitive, Passionate, Engaging, Genuine
Why did you begin blogging? - I began blogging because I love writing and reading as well as sharing bits about myself with anyone who is interested. I love it when I find a great blogger who provides me with tidbits that I can use in my daily life as a mom and wife and I wanted to and hoped that my writing would prove to be a way for me to give back what I have been blessed with in my life.
What is your all-time absolute favourite food? I'll have to say my absolute favorite food is Strawberry Shortcake (I have always loved it even when I was a child) and I have perfected a recipe for the shortcake part of the Strawberry Shortcake that is fabulous. Definitely my favorite!
If you had $1000 to spend on anything in the world, what would you spend it on? If I had $1000 to spend I would purchase a new sewing machine (mine is a nice machine but it's my grandma's and I would love to have a newer model as my primary machine and this one as my backup) If I had anything left after that, I would stock up on fabric, thread, and other sewing notions.
What was the last book you read? The last book I read was The Hunger Games and I'm in the midst of reading the second book in the series, Catching Fire
If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional. with whom would it be? It's hard because I would trade places with one of my daughters for sure but I can't think which one. I have a 6 year old and a 3 year old and I would love to trade places with one of them to get their perspective on my own skills as a mother. What a better way to learn, than to be the child you are raising. I think that would prove to be an invaluable experience.
If your life could have a theme song, what would it be and why?
I think the theme song for my life would be one of these two:
"You Raise Me Up" by Josh Groban just because the lyrics and the emotion are so powerful in my life and that I would be nothing, have nothing if it were not for His grace.
the other would be:
"You're Gonna Miss This" by Trace Adkins because everyday I work to appreciate all that I have in my husband and children, to have the patience to thank God for my blessings rather than complain about my troubles. I know what a treasure this life is and everyday, I look for the beauty around me and the joy in my children's eyes.
Victoria is the owner of Mommy Made It and an absolute inspiration of a woman!
By the way, "You're Gonna Miss This" is such a beautiful song that I've included it here. It actually bought a tear to my eye, it should be the inspiration for us all to appreciate what we have.
